- WHAT WE DO
We operate as an independent umbrella organization connecting civil society organizations, government representatives, administrators, businesses and donor organizations in order to develop accountable, sustainable projects and to implement effective legislation.
2. COUNTER GLOBAL WARMING
We partner with other organizations to:
Increase use of renewable energy. Promote decentralized energy solutions. Promote energy efficiency. Reduce carbon emissions. Use healthier cooking stoves. Promote recycling. Educate the public about Climate Change, Renewable Energy and making legislation work.
3 FOSTER HUMAN HEALTH
We provide education and engage in activities that
Foster healthy lifestyles. Promote self esteem. Empowers parents to play a role in their children’s education. Are holistic, providing a conceptual understanding of the world so that people can make informed choices and live sustainably. Expose unhealthy practices within the food industry. Monitor the quality of water and the environment. We engage in legislative advocacy to deal with problems identified in 1, 2 and 3.
Electricity prices have increased substantially and will continue doing so at the rate of 25% per annum for three years, putting a heavy burden on ratepayers and industries. An ideal solution would be to reduce dependence on Eskom generation and provide as much distributed electricity generation as possible, utilizing cogeneration and alternate energy sources. Our water systems are threatened and communities are struggling with changing and erratic climates. Food security is a major problem.
Through our interaction with MPs and our workshops linking technocrats, academics, MPs and government representatives we promote transparency, accountability and delivery of government programs. We believe that the assistance provided by MamaEarth is invaluable in closing the communication and implementation gaps between those who suffer and those who solve.
The public has not demonstrated significant behavior change in response to Global Warming. Conspiracy theories abound confusing the issue. Whether or not human behavior is responsible for global warming, sustainable living is not an option. It is essential. To this end we will work to change behavior towards environmental health and sustainability with vivid and forceful images and powerful role models.
